Regina Kim

Regina Kim, a South Korean artist, examines the shifting boundaries between humanity and technology in an era of accelerating digital transformation. Her work, The Edited Human, confronts the paradox of technological progress—while it promises freedom, convenience, and dazzling new possibilities, it simultaneously fragments identity, dulls sensory experience, and obscures the body beneath algorithmic surfaces.

Through layered visual language, Kim explores themes of sensory loss, disembodiment, and fractured identity, revealing the shadows that linger beneath the polished aesthetics of digital culture. She regards the human not as a fixed entity but as a fluid, mutable being, continuously remade by technological mediation. Her practice raises pressing questions: what does it mean to inhabit a body shaped by digital systems? Are we still grounded in lived, embodied experience, or drifting toward becoming data-driven constructs?

By exposing the contradictions and unintended consequences concealed within technological splendour, Kim positions art as a space for critical inquiry. The Edited Human becomes both a reflection on, and a resistance to, the erosion of human perception, reminding us of the fragile and uncertain boundaries of what it means to remain human in a landscape of perpetual transformation.

Kim’s work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions internationally, including the upcoming 2025 exhibition Oh Dear Human with Gallery M Platform in London, the 2024 (G)I-DLE X Regina Kim collaboration exhibition in Korea, 2024 Focus Art Fair in New York, 2023 Start Art Fair at Saatchi Gallery in London, the 2022 NFT Exhibition at Iham Gallery in Paris, and the 2022 New York Times Square Exhibition.
